Composite Rebar

New
Description
o reinforce concrete structures, Steel rebars have been used widely for their efficiency and relative low cost. But they bring with them a host of shortcomings like poor corrosion resistance when exposed to moisture, chemicals and salts. As the steel bars corrode over time, the structure loses strength, giving in to crack formation & spall with increase in tensile load. This leads to high repair & maintenance costs. This is where Composite rebars comes in. Their outstanding corrosion resistance, superior strength-to-weight ratio protects the concrete structures maximizing durability & minimizing upkeep cost.
Epoxy-based Composite systems used to fabricate rebars comprise a base polymer resin and glass or carbon fibre reinforcement, usually, be processed through Pultrusion and Filament winding. Tunable processing properties enable meeting varied process & product performance requirements. Their high tensile strength, lightweight, neutral electromagnetic nature & low coefficient of thermal expansion maintains dimensional stability limiting movement of rebars owing to high variations in temperature. High wettability factor ensures fast, easy & complete impregnation of fibres. Composites deliver pressure vessels that are stronger, stiffer with high thermal stability and can withstand high corrosive & abrasive conditions.
